The Pendulum® was invented by PMU artist Katri Pagliaro after seeing firsthand how much time artists were wasting sharpening pencils by hand — and how inconsistent, messy, and frustrating the process could be.

After more than 3 years of testing, refining, and tooling, the Pendulum® was engineered specifically for PMU artists to create super sharp pencils quickly, safely, and with minimal effort.

Not only does it save time during appointments, it helps elevate your work so you can create more beautiful PMU results to help grow your business.

It also eliminates the risk of cutting yourself that comes with hand-sharpening and helps eliminate mess. Shavings are neatly collected inside The Pendulum®.

Because there are so many different pencil formulas on the market, the Pendulum® works with many — but not all — pencils. To make things easier, Katri also developed highly pigmented pencils designed to glide onto the skin effortlessly and work seamlessly with the Pendulum®.

The Pendulum® is not a regular pencil sharpener — it is a professional cosmetic tool that must be used a specific way to work correctly. It’s important to watch the tutorials or read the instructions before first use.

Q: What pencils are compatible?
A: The Pendulum® is designed for Definitude Pencils and works with many wax pencils. It may not be compatible with pencils that have an extra-wide core.

Q: Is this safe to use?
A: Yes. The Pendulum® eliminates exposed blades and significantly reduces the risk of cuts associated with traditional hand-sharpening.

Q: Is there a learning curve?
A: Minimal. Watching the tutorial before use is required for optimal results.

Q: How long does it take to sharpen?
A: Just a few seconds. Insert the pencil all the way to the bottom several times and you’ll have a precise wedge tip ready to use — no exposed blades, no uneven angles, and no wasted product.

The Pendulum® is simple to use but does require an initial orientation.
For best results, we strongly recommend watching the full tutorial before first use.

1. Remove paper from the pencil - See instructions for details on how much to remove.
2. Insert the pencil into the Pendulum®
3. Push the pencil through the blades and retract 1-4 times to cut the wedged tip.
